ABOUT THE ARTIST
Olivia Zeng is a fine artist and illustrator based in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Her practice includes oil, acrylic, and watercolour painting, as well as drawing. She is a director of the Canadian and American Drawing Artists Association. Olivia is also a director, board member at large for the Vancouver International Children's Festival.
She has been awarded with many major awards in both artistic and academic fields. Her achievements include first place in the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day National Poster Contest, the Governor General Academic Medal, and Top Artist in the District.
Olivia's artistic style often includes a blend of traditional technique and modern fluidity. With her Chinese-Canadian identity in mind, she aims to create a lyrical visual dialogue about what it means to embrace and be inspired by cultural heritage when expressing personal and societal concerns. Her works often maintain a delicate balance between realism and abstraction, and showcase a vivid palette of hues and tones.
